Mini Uni Update 01
This is a timeboxed update, that I am starting at 03:03 and hope to have ready to publish for 04:04, so lets see how it goes!
Firstly, I am so happy I made the jump to Uni, even if it’s been rocky so far due to slowness in getting all the π°π°π° side of things sorted. It’s 2025 and well, I’ve got so many words about this and how it can and should be improved to meet future needs. Maybe they’ll be listened to. Maybe not.
What learn’d today den?
So this Mini-Update is only getting written because of how well it ties in with my lived, professional experience, and builds on my L3 NVQ in Business & Administration very nicely.
Collaboration Collaboration Collaboration!
We all know that meme, you get a, you get a etc. Well today what I learnt/expanded my existing knowledge on was all about the art of collaboration, albeit not delivered as such.
As someone that has built Active Directory Domains, Entra ID Tenants (Formally AzureAD) as well as countless solutions using SharePoint based Collaborative solutions & other tools like Teams & Office365 Groups or AD/EntraID Groups, well today left me with a huge smile on my face, because I know that this course will bring many opportunities to expand and polish off what I know myself to be & that is someone that is capable of being one of the best at what I can do. You can read more in πWhy am I one of the best at what I do?π if you so feel inclined that is.
The Ing’s of Teams
Anyway, one of the areas, that I want to bring up that was mentioned today is a concept, one that I will for shortness call The Ings of Teams going forward, though this is a concept that I was brought to understand during the Apprenticeship I did at Barclays where I learnt about this particular concept.
The concept is about how a team moves through different team flow & performance states.
- Forming
 - Storming
 - Norming
 - Performing
 - Adjourning

Each as important as the last & you can if needs be jump back 1 or more steps as team dynamics change. Whether that be due to new joiners, leavers, or just a different set of priorities for the team.
This is from πwikipedia - Tuckman’s Stages of Group Development - 1965π and is the basis for almost if not all team development, particularly Software Development & adjacent roles across any business that sees themselves as a "software-driven" business.
Why I will refer to them as the Ing's of Teams going forward, is not to detach from the original research, as this will just be the short form for this, with my longer form being called, The Building's/Rebuilding of Teams & The Stages of the Inner & Outer Group Development & Redevelopment Processes
Why then is is worth a new name and the extension?
This is my stamp on it. Like all research we should extend it where possible.
Fitting that the lyrics I have been just listened to in Kick You When You Are Down by Machine Head are
You have to trust in yourself
You must believe in yourself
You have to follow your heart
You overcome, improve, endure
As such I’ll leave you with the video to watch
Wrapping up
I managed to finish this with a few minutes to spare allowing me time to publish it.
I hope this Mini Uni Update was of use to you. I obviously learnt more but this particular one was something that I thought, I just thought I needed to get this written, before my busier day ahead later on today.
