Warning - Expletives are used in this post, a bit at least.
So yeah #SorryNotSorry for the use of them here. Because well,
about this, at this time.
Also, quite frankly the fact that this post has been written is a huge step anyways even if in reading this you may think it’s not the right way to go about this which well this is the only way that will work for me.

I’ll keep this brief as not to take up much of your time, but first let me wish all reading a Happy New Year to you and your friends and family too!
Reflection on 2020-2025 Overall a mixed few years. Some great things, some not so great things happened.
2026 onwards is looking to be somewhat positive, that is just from what’s happening in my smallish part of what’s happening in the universe.

Extending Markdown Flavours to add underlining

Where art thou dear underlines? Oh look at that it’s 04:04 and well I’m missing these underlines, much like the sleep that I regularly end missing during the nights. I don’t mind missing the sleep, but I do mind missing these underlines, so where art thou, dear underlines?
Well, Somewhere Someone Silly/Stupid (probs more silly than stupid) decided that with the invention of the WWW(world wide web) that we should throw away the use of underlining any text for emphasis due to the misunderstanding about how impactful this can be, whether in written text or in Web based text.

Mini Uni Update 01 This is a timeboxed update, that I am starting at 03:03 and hope to have ready to publish for 04:04, so lets see how it goes!
Firstly, I am so happy I made the jump to Uni, even if it’s been rocky so far due to slowness in getting all the 💰💰💰 side of things sorted. It’s 2025 and well, I’ve got so many words about this and how it can and should be improved to meet future needs.

This’ll be a fun one, or maybe it won’t - who knows eh?
However as always I enjoy writing these, in and around other things, like my Uni Studies & all the other bits and bobs that I do that typically are unpaid other than in appreciation & exposure not that I mind, but man am I looking forward to stocking up on things like Chicken Nuggets, Pizzas, and ingredients and equipment for 🔗kila’s kitchen🔗 in the very near future, oh and did I mention anywhere that I will have some 🔗Mhasl.

Camping..? No not that thing with tents. Or in games like Gears of War, Call of Duty or other First Person Shooters, especially in online multiplayer matches, which I used to not only really enjoy after a long hard day, I also was really good at. This was what lead me to my gamertag (kilasuit), and especially in match types that required a team to work together, whether that be Capture the Flag or Search & Destroy etc, especially if I managed to get team matches where I could play with my a number of my friends or my cousin and a few others & we as a group did do really well as we coordinated each other well.

ATBs feel more natural to engage with! ATBs or Assistive Tech Buddies as I prefer to call what many of the tools that are out there for organisations & individuals to use today, have a much more natural feeling to engaging with them.
But it isn’t always the case.
There are still remnants of the lessor tooling, the supposed AI Agents in development or use that is nothing more complex than the chatbots that we have had available to us for longer than I like to think about.

Announcing: FUID (Fully Unique Identifiers) In my research and experience over the years for various forms of Infrastructure and Application Development & Deployments, I’ve found there are many kinds of Identifier that we tend to expect has some form of Uniqueness to it. Which in many cases my be true, many others unfortunately isn’t.
We already use GUID (Globally Unique Identifier), UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) & until today I had never heard of ULID (Universally Unique Lexicographically Sortable Identifier) which you can read more on this over in this post GUID vs UUID vs ULID: Understanding Unique Identifiers -medium - ronaldo.

Strap grab a drink or two as this is a long one.
Why Now..? Well it was a mixture of the following things.
The course I plan on attending, sadly, only starts each September.

Different Types of Code Maintainer

Different Types of Code Maintainer In software development there are many different types what can be classed as part of the wider group we call Software Maintainers.
Not all of them need to have write access to code, or even read access.
This post is to help dis-spell the myth that only those that have Write Access are Software Maintainers, though they are the ones with the most power and the ones that ultimately are the last ones to approve or decline new features as well as the most likely to be the ones that implement it, especially in closed source tech, but in open source tech, this typically is not the case and the maintainer team will usually want community contributions, which once they are approved are then supported either by the individual/team that provided the new feature/bug fix, or are supported by the core maintenance team.

Not all of this will just be applicable to Windows 12 btw but could be brought in for Windows 11 too.

No More Naughty Words in Emails! Well Sorta, I now have implemented in code a process that I did manually, & that due to reasons I messed up 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ with that process not being followed, at all. Recently I had another almost similar accident as to what lead me to exit the Microsoft MVP Program back in August 2022.
However, to keep this short, mail providers usually have a configurable list of rules to follow, like a massive IFTTT or PowerAutomate Flow/Logic App etc, & my current mail host, Exchange Online in M365, has had these for as long as I can remember.

RIP Nan On Friday, 20th June 2025, my Nan passed away & whilst this of course is a sad time for me & my family as we come to terms with this, it was not that unexpected to us. We are all of course still saddened and will be taking the time we all need to grieve & reflect at this time.
Taking a Step back from PowerShell Community As such I have decided to take a step back from all my community work with the PowerShell Working Groups for what I think is likely to be a short time to get through things, whilst I reflect and decide what I am doing next in life.

Why’s Gifting hard Firstly, we have in recent times been going through lots of financial struggles with things getting more expensive all the time & no sign that’s stopping soon.
At least not without a hard reset by means of a Global Market Crash.
But that aside gifting really is hard.
Which is why I have been trying to understand this a bit better across different generations, let alone across different regions of the world.

so kila’s kitchen This is just a very quick post to announce YARP (Yet Another Ryan Project) that is what I am calling kila’s kitchen.
Some I know will say this is perhaps a project that I perhaps should not focus on and instead focus on other more pressing things. To that I’d say, this is in line with what I need to do to get from where I am, to where I am going.

Seriously, They are #AssistiveTechBuddies not #AIAgents, so plz call them as such! This is a Hill to die on because all AI, is a form of AT or Assistive Tech, just like all Automation technologies are too. So let’s use a proper term, unless you all dislike being lumped with those with disabilities who already need to use specialist Assistive Tech to help them live, whether or not it enables them to work or not.

Background Firstly, CoreyT (Slipknot|Stone Sour|& more) is a talented musician, no one can doubt that, & not slightly talented, but immensely so. He & the members of both Slipknot & Stone Sour are definitely in my list of favourite Metal artists, along with many more that I will write about another time.
Like all other Musicians (which we all are in our own ways) & there’s no exceptions to that Music is both an art and a science & takes inspiration & talent to create anything.
