New Years Day 2026 Thoughts

I’ll keep this brief as not to take up much of your time, but first let me wish all reading a Happy New Year to you and your friends and family too!

Reflection on 2020-2025

Overall a mixed few years. Some great things, some not so great things happened.

2026 onwards is looking to be somewhat positive, that is just from what’s happening in my smallish part of what’s happening in the universe.

That said, with geopolitical tensions leading to a potential WW3 scenario, I hope that we can start to look & treat each other with more openness and understanding going forward, especially those in neighbouring countries or so called non-allied countries, especially those with differing beliefs in the latter years of this decade. There is a massive difference between attempting to understand those with more extremist or far out or even totally unworkable views, but that’s something that takes a level of patience and understanding of the wide range social spectrum of humanity and our current place in the universe. A huge amount of baseline knowledge is needed to grasp and understand, let alone really comprehend in it’s entirety.

Wishes for 2026-2030

Here’s a few personal ones.

• More interesting tech that isn’t just AI this, AI that etc etc.
  • Show me what you built from scratch without reliance on the Assistive Tech Buddies (see my prior posts about why I use this term over AI Agents etc) that pretty much all AI tooling & other Assistive & Accessible technology tooling falls under.
  • To also continue where I can with the PowerShell and other tech work that I have on my list of things
• Communities to come even more out of their state of hibernation.
  • Many communities have yet to come back from their hibernations, at least to the levels they were at for in-person events.
  • This isn’t the case everywhere, but still some still have a long way to go to get to where they previously where.
  • In person events are multiple times more social, than those that are online.
  • Online communities are great to have and are much more accessible to many, and I’ve been in many & helped co-ordinate many over the years,
• Health to continue to improve.
  • It’s a long slow battle dealing with a complex combination of physical and mental health issues, that compound on each other.
  • I know all the things that I need to do, so it’s just a case of getting through all the steps when I can
• Do well in my Uni studies.
  • For the time so far I’ve really enjoyed Uni, and am looking forward to the ramp up in February in lectures and seminars.
• More Fun to be had.
• See friends and family more.
• Travel more & actually have a holiday again.
• Get back to presenting when I can.
• This includes getting 🔗#IRrrwR - Irregular / Ridiculous rants/rambles with Ryan!🔗 publishing content during the year.
• Publishing Content here, on 🔗Mhasl.me - Mental Health Affects Someone Like Me🔗 & 🔗kila’s kitchen🔗 too.
• Finish the work in the Hugo-Theme-Pure repo and update the sites using that theme to use the released package as opposed to it being a mismatch of different versions across each.
• Pass on the responsibilities in a number of areas, like the Azure DevOps DSC repo, as I no longer have the time or passion for this repo, as mentioned in this issue.

Some more general ones

• The many different wars to come to peaceful ends this year & ideally for no new ones to start.
  • I know the unlikelihood of this happening, still we must hold out hope this can actually happen.
• Cost of living internationally to lower and for the ripple effect of the ability for sustainable growth that can come from this happening to happen.
  • Especially with food & energy costs, but many other things to also reduce in cost too.
• Housing to be improved with many types of new homes of all kinds being built.
  • There’s so many terrible homes out there that should really be demolished.
  • Just watch any of the Snag Finders playlist by On The Tools on Youtube an you’ll see some of the issues with new builds that just isn’t really acceptable for this day and age.
• Some changes around how & when debt collectors and original creditors can chase people especially during the November - February period.
  • More on this to come soon.

I’m sure there are many others on my list but for now this will do.

Have a great year everyone, I hope you all have lots of fun, have plenty of good food and great times with family and friends and can get chance to travel to lots of new places and have plenty of new and exciting experiences.
