What is #IRrrwr …?
IRrrwR stands for Irregular / Ridiculous rants/rambles with Ryan!
Which during the course of 2025 and beyond you will get a variety of content whether it be blogposts here or on Mental Health Affects Someone Like Me or as guest posts elsewhere, on BlueSky/Twitter or LinkedIn, or as video content shared via Youtube/Twitch & eventually across your podcast service of choice.
I hadn’t planned to share content on Instagram, though that changed recently. I’m unlikely to have TicTok or Threads & doubt that will change in the future, just because there’s only so many places you can be at once and still get enough stuff done without doomscrolling forever and ever.
Why Ryan, Why??
I’ve been in a mixed state of long lasting depression, which has been an on/off thing for my entire adult life & whilst I’ve certainly had an interesting career, I know that I could have achieved so much more than I have.
This got worse in 2020 & 2021 & then 2022, when I lost my Dad to Cancer, well that hit me hard and I’ve been in recovery with it since, and to be really brutally honest, I’ve had enough of it impacting me this deeply and intensely where I just can’t keep motivation to get things enough things done off my (never ending) tasklist.
I have many coping and management mechanisms, projects like this is one of them.
Also well because I know I can.
Again, why…?
Its 2025, I had sorta already wanted to do this since this Tweet, so why not, eh. This was gonna be a NYD post this year (once I’d remembered about this) but I delayed it to think a bit more.
My current bout of depression thankfully is on a path to end soon. One day I’ll discuss about my journey in more depth than I have previously.
I am also going to unleash one of my inner spirit animals with this project.
I wonder if you can guess which one of them #IRrrwr
relates to? 😉
Unlike thou some of my friends over at Zure, I’m not gonna, like they say Roar at challenge
but I am working on a similarish catchphrase like that, but y’all gonna have to wait for when I release more on this at a later time.
Further background
I’ve got a real hankering for the rest of this decade to be where I add different content, like on my other new (YARP) kila’s kitchen with quite a bit of it will be technically focused, whilst there will also be some that is far from it.
and well, it’s gonna be irrespective of whether that content is all that useful or not. Though 🤞, you will likely find it at least interesting whether or not it’s all that useful or not.
This is one of many ways in which I can once again show my skills, with #YetAnotherProject where I can YapYapYap
however I please, whenever I decide I actually wanna or not, whether on my own or more likely double the fun & bring some others along for the ride.
This will nicely tie in with many other of my ongoing projects too, like Mental Health Affects Someone Like Me & ongoing work helping the PowerShell Project vais the work that I have been doing as a member of the Cmdlet & Modules, Engine & Interactive-UX Working Groups. & the UK PowerShell User Group community site.
Is less more, or is more less?
I know I’ve had some suggestions by lots of people from different areas to do less things and focus on delivering more. This unfortunately is against who I am as an individual. However, I prioritise and re-evaluate things regularly which often means I walk away from things, to come back to them at a later date.
This was something that during 2020, having a pool table at mine, allowed me to do so.
This YARP (Yet Another Ryan Project) is another example of having a side step into a different stream of Productivity & is part of the workstream to show that I can juggle between different project types, particularly when there isn’t as much requirement to crunch and work to a strict timeframe. This isn’t because I can’t, I just have a much less stress, but more enjoyable life this way.
Which is what I think really matters & is important for optimal Mental Health Management.
But Yes I realise this impacts me working on other things, but seeing as I’m not being paid or approached to work on these things in a paid manner, then why should I slow down on my projects, to then speed up on others.
However, if people wanna change that and actually help me live via paid opportunities, I am all ears, but I won’t be wasting my time anymore in searching and applying for work. When there’s others out there that need it more than I do.
My Success criteria
The Following is what I would deem as my success criteria.
- Some content on some loosely defined schedule, that I keep to myself.
- whether this be small form or longer form is gonna be content specific.
- No regular pattern but maybe there’ll be a huge dump of content, like a Tv Series sometimes does, from time to time.
- Teasers about new content drops
- Showcasing how to make use of technology, mostly other than AI tech, to get more done.
- Published in many places.
- Bring others on the journey, and have fun along the way.
- Profit, maybe. But definitely look to raise funds for Charities along the way.
- Get over my dislike of hearing my own voice etc in the process.
So yeah, I bring you YARP. Stay tuned for more info to come soon!
Have a great day wherever ya are!
