DIN: Delayed - Derby PowerShell UK & Global Azure Gathering 2025

This is an example of a blog post, one that follows the process used with the different types of InteractionNotes by being published as a DIN or DevelopingInteractionNote which is part of a family of #InteractionNotes & is a part of the wider family of docTypes.

The Delay Reasons

This event has been delayed for the following reasons

Mostly

• Equipment failures just as I was about to kick off yesterday
  • This is due to using ageing and underpowered equipment that just can’t handle these kinds of workloads
  • This I believe then caused a forced shutdown due to overheating.
  • The device I was going to use for this is already on it’s way to retirement
  • The back up devices I have are of lower specs, so not appropriate for use here whilst also showing signs that they need replacing or being used for less intensive tasks.

Partly

• Low Engagement in the Call for Speakers

  • Partially due to trying to get a rush of content for an already content heavy weekend
  • Tried to organise it with very little lead time
  • Tried to be a bit too hopeful that in organising this that content would flood in, instead of trickle in.
  • Perhaps because it’s me organising this & well, I’ve been a bit absent from this sort of thing.
    • That brings people to think He's not gonna commit to this & see it through
    • But as Gandalf would say A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
    • I may have as aspired to have this run as planned, and all if all things had gone smoothly then it would have done.
    • But this time the wizard in me decided for me, without consulting me in the process till last night, that it shall be next weekend we do this.

• Loose Content plan

  • People like highly focused content and not a content sprawl especially for an event like this
  • That’s just not how I do things when possible.

The Revised Plan

Yeah it was gonna be 39 hours solid content no breaks - it still is& is going to be fully scheduled content, much like the pwsh 24 even in 2020 was.

I am doing all the management plan in GitHub so that I can use & share this as a template for the future.

This works for these sort of quick events where you have a small org team, however I am to reach out a number of organisers of events that I know , like the Global Azure team, the Eu Summits (Cloud|Collab) run.events team and have a chat with them about the plans I have for a similar event to this that can run as either a pre-Build or post-Build event, however more on that sometime around November time.

So I’ve had chance to Reflect & Recharge & will Re-Initialise with a revised plan of action.

So, lets try this again shall we & make it a success next week instead of this one.

Will there be more delays?

ABSOLUTELY NOT

I’m going to be borrowing a device that will be able to handle everything I need for this event. Unless magically my bank balance changes enough for me to go and by a suitable one of my own, but seeing as I can’t afford the basics right now, which has been the case this time of month for too long now, so that’s kinda wishful thinking. However

Either way I’ll see you around & am looking forward to getting the content out that I have planned for this, which I was gonna livestream most of it, but atm my head ain’t happy with that idea atm.

However, I am more setup for this with my new desk setup

Whilst this has annoyed me, We find strength from the painful moments
