Announcing: The Interaction Notes Family

Announcing the Interaction Notes Family

The Interaction Notes Family, is a set of notes that we subconciously use already, and whilst once you are made aware of this, it begins to make a lot of sense, however is not something I’ve heard as a term be used before and especially not in the world of Tech, or at least my slice of tech.

What’s ths do with DocTypes?

Yes I just blogged about docTypes, and the Interaction Notes Family, is a part of that wider family of Documents & Notes that are of use in life.

So tell us more..!

Bak in the day, we had lots of TIL: or Today I learned posts.

The Interaction Notes Family of notes are meantto be more collaborative by replacing the TIL: to TWL: or Today We Learned

As a consultant, & generally in my life, I found that it is rare for these interactions to just be like a microdose to what ever it is that is being introduced, and is more akin to a macrodose or in the case of some interactions, they can prove to be more like an overdose that can be fatal if not corrected.

So I regualarly found that me or those in my immediate teams to have what were lots of small interactions that formed a bigger overall single interaction that could easily spans anything but across multiple different timespans, whether this be short meetings less than an hour, or across multiple days, weeks and months or even years.

This is even more true in documentation, and especially in handing over production systems form from person to another.

Interesting, tell us even more!

Each of these Note types are detailed in the DocTypes repo, as well as their own This is explaination repository for example InitialInteractionNotes whilst having a here’s them in action repository of their own.

They also form the basis of a set of ongoing docType that you will likely find in my repositories going forward, particularly as they are really good for gaining insights into a project.

They also are going to be a published artifact type, with different templates going forward, starting with markdown, and moving forward other additional types, including in the future an application used for authoring and management of these that is multi-platform, multi-device and designed from the ground up to make use of a mixture of different types of technologies, including public & private.

So with that, as the groundwork foundations having been laid, lets start with IINs, or Initial Interaction Notes.

IINs, or Initial Interaction Notes

IINs are a type of mental note, we already take. By we, I mean all types of life. It is akin to Instinct, and can be informed by our instincts.

INNs have a partial & finalised state. We only finalise our partial IIN by revisting and filing that partial INN away, and replacing it with a much more brief IIN that is in a finalised state. This is what makes them great.

You could argue that the pIIN (partial INN) & fINN (final INN) are their own subtypes, however using the state here of either partial or finalised, simiplifies an already complex enough sprawlling process with how IINs evolve to DINs & then onto FINs.

I’ve published some IINs, or Initial Interaction Notes]

That leads us nicely onto DINs, or Developing Interaction Notes.

DINs, or Developing Interaction Notes

I will be publishing many DINs in my time, but for now this is looking empty.

Which is understandable as I have focused on INNs as of late.

Expect that by end of May I will have published at least 3 DINs, particularly for the Windows Server Summit 2025 & Microsoft Build & also for Global Azure which I am running a conjoined event which is detailed in this Announcing Derby PowerShell UK & Global Azure Gathering 2025 blog post

You can follow the Developing Interaction Notes, repo for additional information as

That leads us nicely onto FINs, or Final Interaction Notes.

FINs, or Final Interaction Notes

I hope that it will be rare to publish FINs but if I do they will be in that repo if they are public.

You can find more about FINs, or Final Interaction Notes

There’s just so much writing here 😑

The beauty of the Interaction Notes Family, is that whilst Interaction Notes are incredibly useful in written form, each of these can easily be of multiple other forms.

In future I can see the evolution of the Interaction Notes Family to include

  • Vlogs (Video logging)
  • Dictated Audio Notes
  • SketchNotes
  • Song and Dance
  • Presentations

Licensing & use

This is where it gets interesting because I could apply to have this licensed in such a way that does not help its use grow.

Therefore I will be revisting the licensing of this fully but do expect it to be personally & professionally friendly using open source friendly licensing, but having a pay it forward expectation clause.

I also will be providing opportunities for this to be something you can engage with me & I can consult in implementations of this process in your organisations or communities.

Who’s the intended audience?

This, along with DocTypes, are built with the intention to be of use & available to anyone, anywhere across this planet & any other planet we may ever venture to.

The groups that I see benefitting most will be those in all years of Secondary or Further Education, as well those across Tech, particularly those in consultancy services across all sectors and parts of life.

They would help Doctors, Nurses & Patients, but Importantly help whoever that from reading this, thinks this inspired me to go take more notes because It’s #TimeToTalk, But it’s also #TimeToWrite & even more importantly, start to build more happier & healthier living, whether building something completely new, or go back to that doodle, that painting, that project that you said before, that it was not the right time for.

Closing notes

This post, like so many on my blog was brought to you with background music, which at this time is some of my own and my late dad’s choice of music.

I would look to share a playlist with you, however perhaps in future I’ll share with you a recorded mix of them

This post (& others) would have been brought to you fuelled by takeaway pizza, however that’s not something that right now that I have the ability right now to afford as often enough as I would like. So Toast and Pasta & other quick easy meals are fueling me atm, until I can afford to live the lifestyle that not only does my mental health the best it can, but enables me to look after my physical health as best as I can, but also helps me in wanting to be out and about for events like user groups and conferences and not just hide away at home all the time.

Till next time, or whenever we speak or see each other again, enjoy as much of the food and drinks you enjoy the most, because, I’ve come to learn, sometimes no matter how much planning we do, we cannot predict everything that the universe will throw our ways.

Enjoy life, enjoy music, enjoy every day, and always take note of those that make you smile, especially if it is just a small interaction at the shops with someone new or an old friend you hadn’t seen in time, because you never know, you may never see them ever again.

Have a great day, I know I will.

Oh and please read my partial IIN on Bleach

There’s not much in that one, yet, but there will be!

Oh, and whilst I start to get some vlogging tech content built up, have a watch (or not) of some of my Guitar Hero Playthrus

Till the next time, eat some pizza for me.

You're taking care of your instincts
No matter what you do
Your life could be so much better
Now when everything is through

The demons that refused to let you go
They leave with empty hands
You got to give it a try
Don't put an end to your life
Cause that's where you choke your last sigh
